With a prestigious record of accomplishments in the not-for-profit and private sectors, Dr. McCaig is one of Canadas most prominent volunteers and advocates for youth, education, and health. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, she began a prolific career as a volunteer in 1962, assisting the Lakeview United Church in establishing one of the first group homes for troubled youth in Regina. After moving to Calgary in 1970, she continued to serve in a variety of volunteer positions. She later joined the University of Calgary s Board of Governors, a position she held for a decade before becoming the U of C s Chancellor in 1995. In 2006, she received the U of S Alumni Associations Alumni Humanitarian Award.
