Throughout his career, Roger Carter has demonstrated a commitment to providing Aboriginal students with access to the study of law. While Dean of Law in 1973, he started an intense eight week summer program for Aboriginal students designed to prepare students to succeed in first-year law studies in Canada. In 1975, he developed the Native Law Centre at the University of Saskatchewan, which is now Canadas principal training and research program for Aboriginal lawyers.
