Vegetable variety / cultivar trials are conducted annually by the Vegetable Program to supply Saskatchewan's vegetable growers with information on cultivar performance under local growing conditions. View the recommended vegetable varieties for Saskatchewan growers, or search the online database of annual variety trials for more specific information. As well as conducting annual vegetable variety trials, the Vegetable Program researches new materials, production methods, and pest management practices aimed at improving vegetable production for prairie producers. A list of seed companies utilized by the Vegetable Program has been compiled to assist growers in finding specific vegetable varieties.
Each year the Vegetable Program publishes Vegetable Cultivar and Cultural Trials, a document detailing current vegetable and potato variety trials, cultural trials, potato agronomy, and other research initiatives. Much of the information is online, but for information on past trials, or to request hard-copies of past reports, visit the Old reports page. Vegetable Related Presentations Grower and industry education is an important component of the Vegetable Program. Dr. Doug Waterer has put together a variety of presentations for conferences and various grower groups around the province of Saskatchewan. These presentations are available for download below in either MS Powerpoint (PPT) or Show on the Go (SHOW). Some presentations are large; please be patient while they download.
