description: Two original oil lamps.

Byzantine Oil Lamp (top)

Length 8 cm. Probably 5th century AD. This lamp comes from the Eastern Mediterranean. It is made of baked clay with slip and has an impressed decoration on the shoulder and a star at the base.

Byzantine Oil Lamp (bottom)

Length 11.75 cm. Probably 6th century AD. This lamp originated from the Eastern Mediterranean. It is made of baked clay with slip and has an applied pellet decoration on the shoulder.
