The Prairie Paladin Medieval Market & Faire

On October 1, 2016 take a trip back in time to the Middle Ages as the University of Saskatchewan Bowl will be transformed into a medieval town square. You will be able to enjoy community groups dressed in period garb pertaining to the 9th to 16th centuries of both North America and Europe who will showcase the talents and techniques of their cultures. The community groups and people involved include:

  • The Society for Creative Anachronism the Barony of Myrgan Wood (medieval combat, weaving, leather-working demonstrations)
  • The Nordhere Vikings Living History Re-Enactors (a viking village display, viking combat re-enactments)
  • The Saskatoon Historical Fencing Society (historical fighting demonstrations)
  • The Saskatchewan Archaeological Society (finger weaving, flint knapping, ceramic reconstructions, archaeological display)
  • Luthier Weldon Gray (medieval musical demonstrations and performances)

Various groups and businesses from Saskatoon and beyond will be showcasing their wares and skills in the medieval marketplace including:

There will also be photo opportunities, games, crafts and activities for children, and historical fun for the whole family to enjoy!

The festival will run from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Check back in mid-September for a program for the festival.
