Acting CIO and AVP ICT Appointed

Dr. Rick Bunt, Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice-President, Information and Communications Technology for the last 12.5 years, stepped down at the end of August.

As the University's CIO Rick has overseen a number of major ICT projects, including the introduction of new services for students, the development of a campus portal, the renewal of the campus computer network, the installation of wireless access facilities across campus, the development of an information strategy for the University and the implementation of new administrative support systems.

As a Computer Scientist Rick has carried out research in computer systems design and performance evaluation, with a particular focus on operating systems, distributed systems, and mobile computing. Over the course of his career he has supervised more than 30 graduate students. He remains active in professional bodies, both nationally and internationally.

Glenn Hollinger has been appointed as Acting Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice-President, Information and Communications Technology, beginning 1 September 2013. Glenn has worked at the U of S since 1985. He has a degree in Computer Science from the U of S and an M.B.A. from the Edwards School of Business. He has experience planning and managing central IT service delivery, having spent 17 years as a manager and director in a variety of roles, most recently as the Director of Client Services in ICT.

The Provost and Vice-President Academic’s office has constituted a search committee and the committee has met once. Active recruitment has begun. While this position is not part of the Search and Review Procedures for Senior Administrators, the search committee has agreed to closely follow the principles and procedures laid out in that document.
