ICT Innovation Fund Call for Proposals
To recognize the critical role innovation plays in a successful university the ICT Innovation Fund was established to facilitate technological innovation. It provides seed funding to help campus units with the cost of developing their innovations.
The call for proposals closed on March 16, 2011.
Members of the U of S community, both academic and administrative, were invited to submit requests for project funding in two areas:
- services for mobile devices; or
- tools in support of e-learning.
Priority was given to initiatives that have campus-wide application. The complete Terms of Reference provide more information.
Proposals needed to include documentation outlining:
- The business case for your project, including how it will benefit the unit and the university.
- The estimate for resources required, identifying both development and capital costs. ITS can help develop cost estimates and provide advice about supporting technologies. See the Eligible Costs section for more information.
- The contribution your unit will be making toward the project (staff effort, funds, etc.).
- The plan for funding long-term operating costs. ICT Innovation funds will not be allocated without assurances that operating costs will be covered.
An advisory committee reviewed proposals and made recommendations to distribute the available funding ($300,000). Eight projects were funded in 2011.
