|
This pie diagram depicts the proportion of 20 million dollars of beef research grants held by members of this group between 1995 and 2005, allocated by category of source. This clearly demonstrates that the research conducted by this group is valued for its basic science and its applied nature. Producer Group and Industry money is often matched by TriCouncil (NSERC primarily) or Federal programs. The Saskatchewan Agriculture Development Fund provides a large proportion of funding but Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia provincial programs also provide some funding. The University of Saskatchewan obviously provides a substantial amount of money in terms of infrastructure, equipment and facility maintenance costs so the portion represented here only represents cash contributions. These are primarily made to new faculty to help them get established when they first arrive.
In addition, endowment funding of $2.2 million for the Saskatchewan Beef Industry Chair Trust and $3 M for the Alberta Beef Chair Trust $3 M accrues to this group.
Additional funding in the form of Graduate Student Stipends and scholarships are received from: Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canadian Wheat Board, Unviersity of Saskatchewan, and WCVM Interprovincial Graduate Student Fellowship Program.
