Students registered in any of the language courses (103, 106, 121, 122, 125, 212, 215) should plan to attend weekly oral tutorials as scheduled in the Registration Guide. A multi-media laboratory is also available on a library basis. Students who have completed the Immersion program in French to Grade 12, the ACFC program in French, or the French program in a Designated School, must register in FREN 128 and 218. Students having graduated from Grade 12 in an Immersion program will not be allowed to register in FREN 121/122 or 125 for credit. Students with credit for French 30 (Grade 12 Core French) must take FREN 121/122, 125. Students with an additional background in French beyond the Grade 12 level should consult the Department before registering.
Note: Students taking approved summer immersion French language courses will receive transfer credit for junior or senior French which may be used to satisfy the French degree requirements for the Honours, Double Honours, Four-year, Three-year, Minor or Recognition in French, to a maximum of 6 credit units. Students with transfer credit for an approved summer immersion course must obtain written permission from the Department, prior to registering in subsequent French language courses. Failure to do so may result in loss of credit.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of 30 credit units at the university or ENG 110 or LIT 100.
A study of the 20th century French novel, short story and drama as a means of expressing varied approaches to the basic problems of modern life.
Note: May not be used as credit toward a French major, although French majors may use it under Requirement 7. May be used by non-French majors to meet humanities requirements.
