Campus Safety operates an investigation section which reviews all occurrences and incident reports generated by our patrol officers. A supervisor level Special Constable is responsible for this section, and they are responsible to coordinate follow-up investigations, liaison with police agencies, and liaison between Campus Safety and other University Departments.
In most cases, the attending Peace Officer will take an initial statement, gather names of victims, witnesses and pertinent information. If a 'follow-up' investigation is required, the investigator may make inquiries or coordinate other University resources that only operate during business hours. The investigator, with the assistance of uniformed patrol Special Constables may seek additional information to assist in the resolution of the file.
