Telephone Safety

Indecent and harassing phone calls do not have to be tolerated. These calls, which are often repetitive, and are indecent, threatening, or cause you to perceive the threat of such, are not legal.

Annoyance calls, which, while not indecent or threatening in manner, they are contrary to telephone regulations.

If you do receive harassing phone calls, please follow the steps below to bring an end to the calls.

  • Hang up immediately. Do NOT talk to the caller.
  • If you receive the call on campus, immediately report it to Campus Safety at 966-5555.
  • If you receive the call off campus, immediately dial *57 to alert SaskTel that you are receiving harassing phone calls. If there are more than 5 calls in a two-week period SaskTel will investigate on your behalf.
  • If the phone call is threatening or indecent contact the police to make an official complaint.
  • If the phone calls continue, consider installing call display, or screening your calls.
