Teaching and Learning Journals

There are a number of journals available for those interested in exploring the higher education teaching and learning literature further or publishing in higher education teaching and learning.

Virginia Tech's Centre for Instructional Design and Educational Research maintains a list of almost 600 current journals that are both discipline specific and general higher education teaching and learning journals.  They range from the pre-eminent journals in the field down to journals that are aimed primarily at individual institutions.

There are two places that you might want to consider starting with a SOTL research project.  First, there is a new journal, published by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, called the Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.  As well, there is another journal published in the US called the International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.  Both have good reputations, well-respected editorial boards, and are open-access.

If you would like more information about where to publish your work, do not hesitate to contact Marcel D'Eon, Brad Wuetherick, Kim West, or Jim Greer and we would be happy to consult with about this.
