Admissions Requirements

Masters Degree

  1. A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, OR,
  2. A three-year first cycle undergraduate degree, in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, from an institution that meets the criteria set forth in the Bologna Declaration, will be acceptable as the equivalent of an undergraduate honours degree.
  3. A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the last two years of full-time study (i.e. 60 credit units U of S equivalent).
  4. Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research.

Ph.D. Degree

  1. A Master's degree, or equivalent, from a recognized university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
  2. A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the Master's degree.
  3. Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research.
Postgraduate Diploma
  1. A four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
  2. A cumulative weighted average of at least 65% (U of S grade system equivalent) in each of the final two years full time study  (i.e. 60 credit units U of S equivalent) of the undergraduate program.

Non-degree Student 

  • A four-year undergraduate degree, or the equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study or from a professional college with specialization in some subject or discipline comparable to that required for an Honours BA/BSc from this University.
  • A cumulative weighted average of at least 65% (U of S grade system equivalent) in each of the final two years (i.e. 60 credit units)of the undergraduate program, or equivalent at the graduate level.
  • Admission on a non-degree basis does not ensure admission to a graduate program at a later date.

Joint Student Program

  • If applying at the masters level, a four-year undergraduate degree or the equivalent from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, OR  
  • If applying at the doctoral level, a master's degree, or the equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
  • A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in each of the final two years (i.e. 60 credit units)of the undergraduate program, or equivalent at the graduate level.
  • Currently registered in either a master's or a doctoral program at another university.
