Biological Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry has had an active post-graduate program since 1969 and has graduated 29 students to-date. Extensive facilities exist to support basic and applied research in psychiatric disorders.
Our programs lead to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, and offer instruction and training of students in areas that include cellular and molecular neurobiology, animal models of disease, neuroarchitecture and behaviour.
You can view available courses here.
The department selects graduate students from among a wide pool of applicants, including honours students at the University of Saskatchewan, as well as Canadian and foreign students with degrees in biology, psychology and related disciplines. Typically, new students enter into a M.Sc. program. If a student demonstrates satisfactory performance in graduate coursework, research progress and successfully completes a Ph.D. qualifying examination, then a student can request to transfer in their second year to a Ph.D. program.

Students applying for the programs are encouraged to explore the research expertise of our faculty and contact faculty members directly to inquire about their willingness to act a potential supervisor.
