The College of Graduate Studies and Research (CGSR) is pleased to announce that the ESL Bursary program for international graduate students will again be available during the 2010-2011 academic session. Last year was the first year of the ESL Bursary program; forty students received the bursary over the fall, winter, spring and summer terms.
The ESL Bursary is a support program for international graduate students experiencing difficulties in their academic studies due to their English language proficiency. International students, who are currently enrolled full-time in a graduate program, are eligible to apply for a bursary. The deadline to submit an electronic application for the upcoming Fall Term is August 15th.
The application process is in two parts:
The student completes part one of the application and submits it electronically.
Their faculty supervisor will automatically be sent an email requesting that they complete part two, which is the supervisor’s recommendation portion .
Applications will not be considered unless both the student’s and the supervisor’s parts are submitted. If you submit an application, you should discuss it with your supervisor and ensure that they respond before the deadline. After the deadline, all complete applications will be reviewed by the selection committee and students who are awarded a bursary will be contacted.
Each bursary will cover the majority of the cost of the ESL course held at the University of Saskatchewan Learning Centre. Successful recipients will be expected to make a minimal contribution of $25.00. Complete details of the bursary can be found in CGSR Awards Database - ESL Bursary, and, applications are at ESL Bursary Application.
