The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) has awarded $685,000 for scholarships and fellowships to twenty-three University of Saskatchewan graduate students to study a wide range of issues including the impact of environmental change on wildlife management, effects of executive compensation in the public sector, and ways of reducing poverty in rural communities.
“This investment in our outstanding and diverse research talent will result in new knowledge that will have an impact on society, the environment and the economy, while training the next generation of innovative researchers,” said U of S Vice-President Research Karen Chad.
SSHRC will support university-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences through the following graduate student awards:
The College of Graduate Studies and Research will provide each recipient, who registers in a graduate program at the U of S, with an additional $3,000 tuition scholarship.
SSHRC also awarded a further $923,290 to U of S faculty research teams in the Standard Research Grants, the Aboriginal Research and Development Grants and the International Opportunities Fund competitions.
