The Project:
This project will investigate alternative heifer development programs and differing pre-breeding target body weights and the effect on reproductive efficiency and future productivity of heifers. Impact on reqplacement costs will also be evaluated. Both field and laboratory studies will be conducted.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be highly motivated to pursue a research career. Applicants should have a strong background in beef cattle, ruminant nutrition or the animal sciences. Interested individuals holding a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science should have a minimum average of 70% before considering submission of an application. A successful application to the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Saskatchewan will be required. Starting Date: The student is to commence in the Fall term (September 2010), or once a suitable candidate has been identified.

Stipend: A standard University graduate stipend for the successful candidate is available: M.Sc. $16,000/year or Ph.D. $18,000/year.
