CUISR Internship Opportunity: "Evaluation of Crocus Co-operative"

The Opportunity:
This project will focus on an evaluation of the different programs Crocus has for its members. Special attention will be paid to the Transitional Work Program and the Fuel with Food Program taht operates out of Crocus' kitchen. The evaluation will look at the short and long-term impacts Crocus has on both its members andthe greater community. These may include:

  • Increased quality of life
  • Less time incapacitated due to illness
  • Increased social well-being
  • Skill enhancement
  • Less exclusion/more awareness & education
  • Alleviation of poverty

The projec will assist Crocus in developing/enhancing mechanisms for collecting information to support ongoing evaluation methods.

The Project:
Duties include:

  • arranging and conducting interviews and focus group
  • assembling and analyzing quantitative data
  • producing a literature review
  • writing a final research report.

Qualifications:
Qualifications include:

  • Grad student in a relevant field of study (e.g. Sociology, Social Applied Psychology, Community Health and Epidemiology, Social Work)
  • experience working with people with mental health disabilities an asset
  • abilitly to conduct field interviews and focus groups
  • ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  • strong communications (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • abilitly to work independently, following timelines and meeting project expectations and deadlines.

Location:  Saskatoon (University of Saskatchewan and Quint Development Corporation)

Eligibility:
This position is open to all current graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) at the University of Saskatchewan. (University of Regina graduate students may also be considered.)

Term:
20 to 25 hours per week starting immediately. Project timeframe and work hours may be flexible to accommodate needs of student intern, other research team members, and partner organizations.

Award:  Approximately $12,000 paid over the course of the project.

Deadline:  October 2nd or until position is filled
