The Project:
The successful applicant will contribute to a range of ongoing projects pertaining to the epidemiology, root causes, and associated morbidity of non-adherence to medications. The successful applicant will have access to selected datasets from Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Health, which is widely recognized for its high quality administrative data. In addition, the candidate will be encouraged to participate in the development of studies that collect primary data. There is considerable scope for the applicant to initiate new avenues of research within the field of medication non-adherence, drug utilization, as well as health services research.
The successful applicant will be involved with all aspects of research from study design, grant writing, planning, ensuring integrity of data, data linkage, patient chart reviews, executing and interpreting statistical analyses, presentation of findings both verbally and in table/graph form, drafting and publication of scientific manuscripts. In addition, teaching opportunities would be available for those who are interested in gaining such experience
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential to excel in their field of research, as well as to exhibit excellent organizational ability, analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to complete work assignments independently. A track record of first-author publications in peer-review journals and previous experience with grant writing is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. A strong foundation in methodology and statistical analyses, such as regression analyses (including survival analyses), will be a valued asset. Knowledge of pharmacotherapy will also be an asset. The successful candidate may supervise students and other research personnel.Initially, this position is offered for a one year term, with the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement. It is open to applicants with a background in epidemiology/ pharmacoepidemiology, or health services research. The candidate must hold a PhD in the related health field.
