The Opportunity:
Encapsulation of Prebiotics, Probiotics, and Heart healthy oils.
The Project:
A post-doctoral fellow is sought in support of a
loarge provincially funded research project. He/she will focus on designing novel microcapsules using plant proteins for the controlled delivery of: 1) mixed prebiotic oligosaccharides-probiotic bacteria formulations and, 2) essential fatty acid rich oils from flax. The designed capsules will help maximize the protection, stability, release and bioavailability of the entrapped bioactives, for use as ingredients in food and feed products.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be highly motivated to
pursue a research career. Candidates should have a strong background in
chemistry, biochemistry or food science with a basic understanding of microbiology.
Furthermore, interested individuals must hold a M.Sc./Ph.D.
degree from one of the aforementioned disciplines. The
ability to work independently is necessary and excellent oral and
written communication skills are required. The individual may also take on an organizational role in the project, and become involved with student supervision. Please quote position MTN1.
Starting Date: The project is to commence once a suitable candidate has been identified.
Stipend: $38,000-$43,000
