The Opportunity:
An M.Sc. graduate student is sought to join the beef grazing/nutrition group at the Western Beef Development Centre.

The Project:
This project will investigate alternative heifer development programs and differing pre-breeding target body weights and the effect on reproductive efficiency and future productivity of heifers.  Impact on replacement costs will also be evaluated.  Both field and laboratory studies will be conducted.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be highly motivated to pursue a research career.  Applicant should have a strong background in beef cattle, ruminant nutrition, or the animal sciences.  Interested individual holding a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science should have a minimum average of 70% before considering submission of an application.  A successful application to the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Saskatchewan will be required.  Information on the College as well as application forms may be obtained at http://www.usask.ca/cgsr/. Starting Date:
To begin with the Winter Term (January 2010), or once a suitable candidate has been identified.

Stipend:
The standard University graduate stipend for the successful candidate is $17,000/year.
