Ph.D./M.Sc. Studentships (Starting September 2014)

Applications are invited for Ph.D. and M.Sc. studentships in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. The students will be involved in developing theory and computer simulation techniques to study soft condensed matter systems. Of special interest are confined fluids, nucleation, jamming and packing problems and the statistical mechanics of small systems. Students will have access to high performance computing facilities and work in an interdisciplinary environment, interacting with groups from physics, engineering and mathematics. Scholarships and Teaching Assistantships available. Interested candidates should email their curriculum vitae to:

richard.bowles@usask.ca

For more details regarding the graduate program in Chemistry, see the department website: http://www.usask.ca/chemistry.

Possible Projects involve:

  1. Nucleation of nanocrystals
  2. Nucleation in confined systems
  3. Deliquescence
  4. Gel-glass transitions
  5. Packing of hard particles
