Telehealth Events are held the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST Telehealth/Webinars The Division of Continuing Professional Learning has received funding
from the Saskatchewan Medical Association Committee on Remote and Rural
Practice (CORRP) to run a pilot series of six combined
Videoconference/Webinar educational sessions. For those who could neither travel to a Telehealth centre or take part in the LIVE webinar from THEIR own location there will be an opportunity to view each presentation after the fact. We will be recording each presentation and making it available shortly AFTER the date of the session. This will be accessible within an online course that you can register for. The registration form and instructions on how to access the course are Webinar Presenters and Dates: Month Day Presenter Topic Blackboard Learn Online

Feedback from Rural Physicians indicates that it is difficult to
travel to a telehealth site for an educational videoconference, and that
the opportunity to join the session on-line would be welcome. We have
also heard from physicians that the opportunity to attend a webinar
asynchronously, or “on demand” would also be an attractive alternative.
CPL is therefore commencing a pilot project to provide and
evaluate the impact of six emergency management focused
webinar/videoconferences starting in September 2012.
The topics to be covered are;
• Analgesia in the rural emergency room
• Ankle injuries and applying the Ottawa ankle rules
• Head injuries and applying the head CT guidelines
• Management of acute psychiatric presentation in the rural emergency room
• Management of pediatric emergencies in the rural emergency room
• Management of work related injuries in rural emergency room (Cancelled)
Presentation will be given simultaneously over telehealth and
on-line with opportunity to ask questions of the speaker over both
modalities. These presentations will be eligible for Mainpro M1 credits.
The presentations will be recorded and available for
one month on the CPL website, in the form of a Blackboard© course which
will also carry Mainpro M1 credits, provided registrants take part in
brief online discussion with each other and with the speaker. Access to
this course will be made available after registration in the session has
occurred. In order to access the online webinar LIVE from YOUR location (outside a regular Telehealth location) you will need to follow the instructions that are laid out below.
These sessions will commence starting in late September. A list of the presenters, dates and times and a direct link to each webinar session is set
out below. A link to a short tutorial that describes what YOU
will need to do at YOUR computer to prepare to receive the webinar and
how to use the technology to interact and take part is also listed below. The webinar sessions are being provided simply as an alternate means of joining the Telehealth presentations. It is strongly recommended that you have access to a DSL or highspeed internet connection in order to view these presentations. Our hope is the webinar format will provide another gateway to access the telehealth sessions and open the door to those who could not travel to a telehealth centre to view them.
AVAILABLE HERE . If you utilize this resource there will be requirements for posting to the discussion forum and interacting with others as well as posting questions of the presenter. These interactions will be fully detailed within the course and are necessary elements in earning your Mainpro M1 credits.
More details can be found as they become available on the CPL website and through telehealth program announcements.
We hope that this will indeed be an effective way of bringing
continuing medical education to physicians in rural and remote areas,
and we hope you will take part and give us your feedback on the pilot
program. (Please click the link under "Link to webinar Survey" to provide your feedback on the webinar component of this program).
