Lernia, NTI and Strömbäck folk high school are three agencies that offer specialized courses for adults that are not offered by the municipality itself.

Grounds of Strömbäck Folk High School, located 20 minutes by car outside of Umeå. This is a residential and day school for adult education. In general, students who take their high school courses here require more support and counselling than those in the regular komvux (municipal adult education) program.
