In 2007, the College of Education celebrated 80 years! One of the legacies of this celebration is a Heritage Corner located on the second floor of the College of Education building. This corner includes some historical photos, the Alumni Wall of Honour and a digital alumni database using touch screen technology.
With over 30,000 alumni, the College of Education became short on wall space for the composite boards housing photos of graduates from each year. The College decided to digitize the photos on each composite board and create a digital database housed in kiosks available to the public in the Heritage Corner. The searchable database uses touch-screen technology allowing individuals to search for alumni by last name or by year of graduation. Currently only those graduates who had their photo taken during the year in which they graduated are in the database. It is hoped that names of alumni, for years without composite boards, will be added before June 2008 with individuals who chose not to have their photo taken for their composite boards being added after that. Below are photos of the two kiosks that are part of the College of Education Heritage Corner.
