Married to Karin Melberg Schwier. They have three children: James (22), Erin
(19), Benjamin (15). None are doing time.

Born and raised in Indiana, USA. Became naturalized Canadian citizen in 1994.
Can sing O Canada in three part harmony and in several non-official languages.

Received Bachelor's (1972), Master's (1974), and Doctoral (1979) degrees
from Indiana University. Still loves IU basketball. Only moderately embarrassed
by Bobby Knight.

Joined faculty of Educational Communications, University of Saskatchewan
in 1978. Three year plan turned into a stunning lifetime on the prairies.

Has taught at elementary, secondary and post secondary levels for 22 years.
I can't believe it either.

Has written and co-authored six books and more than 70 research papers, articles
and technical reports in the field of educational technology. Fewer people
than that have read them.

Developed several television, computer-based instruction, and interactive
multimedia programs. Don't ask.

Has given more than 150 presentations on topics of interpersonal communication,
instructional technology and the social and ethical influence of mass media
on society. Available for weddings, barmitzvahs, any major holidays or family
gatherings.

Served as Editor of the Canadian Journal of Educational Commuinication. Currently
serves on Editorial Boards of the Journal of Educational Multimedia and
Hypermedia and the Canadian Journal of Educational Communication, and as
President of AMTEC (Association for Media and Technology in Education in
Canada). Not bad for someone who can't read.

Has consulted extensively with clients in corporate, educational and tertiary
sectors across Canada and internationally. Most are still living or in business.
