This Western Red Lily module
developed for the elementary classroom can be adapted to fit
into some specific areas of the Saskatchewan Evergreen elementary
science curriculum guide:

The student will(TSW)
discuss how plants were used by humans in the past. (Lesson
1/2)
TSW understand the concept of native prairie plants. (Lesson
1/2)
TSW recognize and examine Western Red Lily flowers (parts), leaves,
roots, stems as common structures of most plants. (Lesson
3/4)
TSW observe and describe the response of plants to environmental stimuli. (Lesson
5/6)
TSW observe and describe how plants are adapted to environmental conditions. (Lesson
5/6)

Diversity
Foundational Objectives
TSW develop a
sense of respect for all living things. (Lesson

TSW reflect on the destruction of native prairie plants. (Lesson

TSW investigate the functions of roots, stems, leaves and flowers and
their parts. (Lesson 3/4)
TSW discuss the response of the Western Red Lily plants to biotic factors. (Lesson

TSW give examples of how plant adaptations helped the plant to survive
under certain conditions/climatic conditions. (Lesson

TSW explain plant adaptations based on seasonal changes, the availability
