Indigenous educator uses land as text in outdoor university course

Tasha Spillet, took part in a 2 week Indigenous Land Based Education project that takes University of Saskatchewan students out on the land to learn from Indigenous knowledge keepers.

Tasha Spillett, a College of Education graduate and current University of Saskatchewan PhD student, spoke with CBC Radio's Unreserved about her experience in the Land-Based Indigenous Cohort, a course-based graduate program that offers intensive land-based learning framed within an Indigenous paradigm, and taught primarily by Indigenous faculty. Offered through the Department of Educational Foundations, the program uses an experiential approach to explore subjects such as Indigenous knowledge, cross-cultural research methodologies, resilience in Aboriginal education and more.
