CURRENT AND RECENTLY COMPLETED RESEARCH
The influence of stakeholder perceptions on the implementation of school community councils policy in Saskatchewan. (SSHRC-funded, 2009-2012). This interpretive policy analysis aims to explore the manner in which stakeholder conceptualizations of the parental role in school improvement and education influence policy implementation.
Parent presence in post-secondary education: Practical and policy implications. (University of Saskatchewan President’s SSHRC Fund, 2008-2009). This study investigated the impact upon university personnel (e.g. Associate Deans, Admissions personnel, Registrar, Student Housing personnel, etc.) of the increasing desire of parents to be included in and informed about their university children’s educational experiences.
School community councils: From policy meaning to practice. (University of Saskatchewan Research Grant, 2007-2009). This study investigated parents’ and principals’ perspectives of the transformation of parental roles from social supporters to curriculum advisors through the legislation of School Community Councils policy in Saskatchewan.
A beginning exploration of Aboriginal perspectives on the parents’ role in education. (John Ranton McIntosh Research Grant, College of Education, University of Saskatchewan, 2007-2008). This fund afforded the completion of a literature review on Aboriginal parent involvement in schooling.
Stakeholder analysis of school community councils policy in Saskatchewan. (University of Saskatchewan President’s SSHRC Fund, 2007-2008). This study completed the first phase of an interpretive policy analysis of the School Community Councils policy in Saskatchewan.
