on each program/organization is provided. The information,
although not comprehensive, offers a general overview of each
source of assistance. You should always contact the program
sponsor before applying for funding to verify that the information
that you have is up-to-date and double-check important details
such as deadlines. You will also want to get in touch with
the sponsor to ensure that you have all the information you
need to submit a successful application. In addition to the

Communities of Tomorrow has set up a fund to support creative
and innovative projects at the High School and Post Secondary
Education levels.
Funding of up to $1000 per project is available for/to Hight
School initiatives that demonstrate applications of mathematics,
science or geography in identifying and addressing sustainability
issues in urban communities.

Non-profit groups are eligible
to apply to the program. This includes, but is not limited
to: community groups, environmental groups, aboriginal groups
and First Nations councils, service clubs, associations,
and youth and seniors' organizations. Private sector organizations,
educational institutions, and municipal, provincial/territorial
and federal governments are not eligible applicants, but
are encouraged to partner with non-profit organizations.
In keeping with major Environment
Canada and Government of Canada environmental priorities,
EcoAction supports projects that address the following themes:
- Climate Change
- projects focusing on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
that contribute to climate change
- Clean Water -
projects focusing on the diversion and reduction of substances
that negatively affect water quality (e.g., pesticides, fertilizers,
household hazardous wastes, etc.) and on the conservation
of water resources;
- Nature - projects
focusing on protecting wildlife and plants, and protecting
and improving the habitat where they live (e.g., grasslands,
rivers, forests, etc.); and,
- Clean Air - projects
focusing on reducing air emissions that contribute to smog
and air toxics issues
Submission deadlines are February 1st and October 1st
annually. The
maximum amount available per project is $100,000. Applicants
must ensure that at least 50 percent of the total value of
their project comes from sources other than the federal government.

SEIMA (Saskatchewan Environmental & Industry
Managers)
Green Team is a program developed through a partnership with
the Saskatchewan Environmental Industry and Managers Association,
Saskatchewan Environment and Saskatchewan Culture, Youth and
Recreation. It is designed to provide an opportunity for Saskatchewan
students to gain work experience and training in the environmental
sector by working on environmental projects.
Green Team will provide approved employers with a subsidy
to cover a portion of wages and benefits paid to the student.
Some examples of environmental industries or employment activities
are:
Waste Resource Management, Environmental Education, Watershed
Management, Pollution Prevention, Energy Conservation and Climate
Change.

- A student group/organization
may apply only once per year for the EAP assistance.
- The amount granted
will not exceed $500.00.
- Eighty percent
of the assistance will be allocated upon approval of the
project. Recipients will receive the remaining twenty percent
once the final report of the project has been submitted.
The final report must be received by SOEEA within a year
after approval of the project.
- Funds may not
be used for capital expenditures (eg. purchase of equipment).
- Recipients of
the EAP assistance must recognize SOEEA and SaskLotteries
as sponsors in any publication or promotion related to the
project.

The Shell Environmental Fund (SEF) provides financial support
for grass-roots, action-oriented projects that improve and
protect the Canadian environment. You can receive a grant only
once for any single project. The SEF provides up to $5,000
per project.
Applications for more than $500
must reach the Shell Environmental Fund office by the Spring
or Fall deadline dates (February 28 and September 30). One
of five regional panels reviews the applications. They meet
twice per year following the application deadlines. We will
notify you within one week of the regional panel meeting.

Youth Corp. (EYC) is funded under the Youth Employment Strategy program.
Both Employers and Interns need to apply for the program to get
approval from ECO Canada. Funding will be allotted on a first
come first serve basis.The
Environmental Youth Corp. (EYC) is designed to create a six to
twelve month window-of-opportunity for post-secondary graduates
under the age of 30. These individuals are eitherunemployed or
underemployed and are seeking to gain experience in either a
national or international environmental project.
The McLean Foundation
Funding from the McLean Foundation covers
a diverse range of topics including: Arts: Musicâ Theatre
and Visual, Environment and Conservation, Education, Health,
Welfare.
Effective immediately, The McLean Foundation will only accept
applications from organizations that have first submitted a letter
