Roles and Responsibilities of College Supervisors

The primary role of college supervisors is to facilitate the work of the cooperating teacher and intern and to monitor the intern's meeting of the requirements of internship. They provide a liaison among the university, the school and the intern.

College supervisors are responsible for:

• supporting and enhancing the working relationship between interns and cooperating teachers.
• observing and providing feedback to interns.
• providing a model and support to the intern and cooperating teacher in the supervision process.
• conducting inservice seminars.
• being actively involved in the evaluation process.
• communicating with interns, cooperating teachers, school principals and the Field Experiences unit.
