 ment practices especially given the large classes that music teachers some
 times encounter.  \n\nBio:  Bill Kristjanson is a Band Director at Vincent
  Massey Collegiate in Winnipeg.  In a career spanning thirty years\, he ha
 s taught at the senior and middle years levels\, served as a Divisional Mu
 sic Consultant in both the Louis Riel and Pembina Trails School Divisions 
 and has taught music education courses at the University of Manitoba and C
 anadian Mennonite University. \n\nBill is Past President of the Manitoba M
 usic Educators' Association\, serves on the Provincial Steering Committee 
 for the Arts\, and has worked on the Provincial Music Curriculum.  He has 
 conducted the Manitoba Provincial Junior High Honour Band\, Provincial Hon
 our Jazz Band\, and at the International Music Camp.  Bill has presented s
 essions at the Ontario Band Association's Beginning Band Symposium and for
  the Comox Valley School District in B.C.   He has served as an adjudicato
 r throughout western Canada and as the Instrumental Advisor to the Canadia
 n Rocky Mountain Festival. \n\nDuring Bill's tenure at Glenlawn Collegiate
 \, the bands earned many honours. Notably\, the Jazz Band performed at the
  International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in 1992 and the Wi
 nd Ensemble presented sessions at the British Columbia Music Educators Ass
 ociation Conference.   Bill is the recipient of the 'D.W. Penner Award for
  Exceptional Service in Education'\, the University of Manitoba 'Excellenc
 e in Music Education Award'\, the Manitoba Band Association 'Award of Dist
