This page contains a summary of the pension plans applicable to the various employee groups at the University of Saskatchewan. It also contains financial and governance information, investment and expense policies as well as communications sent to members.

Academic Defined Benefit Plan

This is a closed plan effective June 30, 2000. All appointments after June 30, 2000 are required to enroll in the Academic Money Purchase Pension Plan.

You were eligible to join the Plan if you were employed half time or more as:

  • An In Scope or Out of Scope Faculty/Senior Administrative Employee whose appointment is:
    • A probationary appointment leading to permanent status;
    • A term appointment of two years or longer;
    • A without-term appointment for an expected duration of two years or longer; or
    • On the date you are granted tenure.
  • An In Scope Administrative or Exempt employee whose appointment is:
    • A permanent appointment; or
    • A term appointment of two years or greater.

Academic Money Purchase Plan

You are eligible to join the Plan if you are employed half time or more as:

  • An In Scope or Out of Scope Faculty/Senior Administrative Employee whose appointment is:

    • A without-term appointment for an expected duration of two years or longer; or
    • On the date you are granted tenure.
  • An In Scope Administrative or Exempt employee whose appointment is:
    • A permanent appointment; or
    • A term appointment of two years or greater.

Non-Academic Plan

You are eligible to join the Plan if you are employed half time or more as:

  • A member of CUPE Local 1975 and actively employed as:
    • A permanent or seasonal employee;
    • A permanent or seasonal employee who is temporarily occupying a term position; or
    • A term employee who has been employed continuously in the same position for more than one year.
  • An employee of CUPE Local 1975 office, and University affiliated colleges
  • A member of the Exempt Group or the Administrative Group who has been permitted to continue membership in the Plan.

Research Plan

You are eligible to join the Plan if you are employed half time or more as:

  • A member of a Participating Employer (research accounts and affiliated employers); and
  • Whose appointment is two years or greater; and
  • You are not an active participant in any other formal plan in effect at the University.
