Background
Professor Pomeroy is the Canada Research Chair in Water Resources and Climate Change (Tier 1), a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, was the first Personal Chair in Hydrology in Wales and is a University of Saskatchewan graduate with a PhD (1988) in Agricultural Engineering and BSc (1983) in Geography. He has worked in the US, UK and Canada as a research scientist, research fellow and project leader and has taught at universities in Canada and the United Kingdom. Professor Pomeroy has published over 150 research articles including four books, is an Associate Editor of Atmosphere-Ocean, the annual editor of a special issue of Hydrological Processes and a coeditor to other special issues. He has mentored 6 post-doctoral fellows and 18 graduate students and developed the first Water Science B.Sc. program in the United Kingdom. He serves on the Science Steering Group for the International Decade for Prediction in Ungauged Basins, is Chair of the Working Group on Snow-Vegetation Interactions and the Canadian Snow Committee, and was recently President of the Eastern Snow Conference. He has recently acted as convener, chair or president for six major international hydrology conferences in Japan, France, the Netherlands, the U.S. and Canada.
