Hosting International Delegations

The Office of Global Relations was created in part to manage the hosting of international delegations.  If you intend to welcome an international scholar or delegation to the University of Saskatchewan, we can help facilitate a positive and productive visit.  Below is a list of services we can provide.  Please contact Global Relations, if you would like to assistance with any of the following:

Making arrangements for international visitors

• Write letters of invitation to support visa applications.
• Assist with booking accommodation, local transportation, parking, etc.

Planning the visitor or delegation’s agenda

• Develop a schedule for the visit
• Set up meetings, book meeting rooms, order refreshments, prepare briefings and biographic information on delegation
• Draw connections between visitors and the campus community and make suggestions about potential meetings or tours.
• Arrange meetings with senior administration, when appropriate

Hosting delegations once they arrive in Saskatoon

• Welcome delegates and accompany them to and from meetings as required
• Provide translators and/or note takers if needed
• Facilitate campus tours related to the delegation’s objectives

Providing cultural and protocol information

• Prepare a brief outline highlighting cultural expectations
• Develop a list of protocol related to high ranking officials outlining items such as how to address an official and acceptable speaking and seating order
