Awards and Grants Overview

The U of S has a number of teaching awards for faculty, sessionals, instructors, and graduate students. The university also supports several project grants and scholarship of teaching and learning grants. In addition to campus wide awards, U of S faculty are eligible to compete for individual and group national teaching awards adjudicated by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

U of S Master Teacher Award  Awarded twice annually, in recognition of exceptional pedagogy and excellent teaching at the U of S. Deadlines are February 15 and August 15.

Provost's Awards Teaching excellence of faculty, instructors, sessionals, and graduate students is rewarded at the U of S through annual awards. Deadline is February 1.

Sylvia Wallace Sessional Lecturer Award  Sponsored by The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching Effectveness, this award annually recognizes the important and essential contribution of sessional lecturers to the U of S teaching community. Deadline is February 15.

U of S Student's Union Teaching Excellence Awards  This annual award shows the Students' Unions' appreciation for those individuals who strive to enhance the student experience at the U of S

Celebration of Teaching An annual event is held in honour of the year's teaching award winners at the U of S.

National and International Teaching Awards Faculty at the U of S are eligible to apply for highly competetive and prestigious national awards that recognize excellence in teaching and educational leadership.


Provost's Prize and Project Grant The U of S supports the scholarship of teaching and learning through project and scholarship grants. Deadlines are August 31.

Curriculum Innovation Fund A project fund available for academic units to support curriculum innovation projects

Exeriential Learning Fundproject fund is available for academic units to support student access to experiential learning opportunities

Community Engagement and Outreach Funds are available to support community engaged scholarship

STLHE Annual Conference Sponsorship Covers the cost of registration for a limited number of faculty each year
