The GMCTE is actively involved in supporting a variety of faculty and curriculum development initiatives related to Indigenous education. We have a two people in our Centre, Jeff Baker (full-time) and Tereigh Ewert-Bauer (part-time) dedicated to supporting this important institutional priority area.
Treaty Education:
The GMCTE is supporting the Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning-directed initiative to develop online and face-to-face modules related to treaty education and other priority areas related to Indigenous education that will introduce faculty and staff across campus to important information related to Aboriginal history, culture and contemporary issues.
Indigenous Voices:
We have also partnered with the College of Education on a PCIP funded project to initiate an intensive, experiential faculty and staff development initiative to raise awareness of Aboriginal history, culture and contemporary issues, explore issues related to Aboriginal learners and learning, and to explore ways on Indigenizing curriculum through the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing. This project, which is starting with faculty and staff in the College of Education, will expand to include other Colleges across the campus in the coming years.
