Alumni President's Message

There continues to be a growing interest by the alumni in many aspects of the University and our Alumni Association. An example is the continued increase in branch activities both nationally and internationally. You will see from the Branch and contacts listing on Page 22 that we now have a contact as far away as Melbourne, Australia. In cooperation with the First & Best National Campaign, successful alumni events were held in Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto. The Fraser Valley Branch held their first event recently with good attendance and are enthusiastically looking to the future. Ted Turner, past Chancellor of the U. of S., and President George Ivany hosted our first ever "snowbirds" event in Palm Springs, California with visitors from many centers in California and Arizona.

A new program has been established for faculty members taking 1996/97 sabbaticals and travelling to destinations around the World. The Development and Alumni Affairs Office staff are coordinating faculty visits with alumni, and as University ambassadors, faculty will be bringing news of the University to all corners of the globe.

Thank you to our board members, council members, branch executive members, and committee members for their time, expertise and support of the University and the Alumni Association.

Regards, Ivy Hodgins
