1930 Savella Stechishin, BA'30 of Saskatoon was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit by the Province of Saskatchewan. The award recognizes her as a columnist and women's page editor for the Ukrainian Voice for 25 years; being the first Ukrainian woman to graduate from the U of S with a degree in home economic; as being president of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada for 10 years; and co-founder of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada.1939 John Green, BA'39, LLB'43 of Regina, SK was awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit by the Province of Saskatchewan.
Hon. D. Gordon Blair, C.M., BA'39, LLB'41 of Ottawa, ON received Member of the Order of Canada in Oct. '98. His career as a judge of the Court of Appeal for Ontario has served as a model for excellence.
1940 Gerald (Gerry) F. Rose, C.M., BA'40 of Saskatoon posthumously received the appointment of the Order of Canada as a Member for his voluntarism.
1944 Roy E. McKenzie, BSC'40(ALT), MA'44 retired and living in White Rock, BC was recently honored at the AIC annual meeting for his immense contributions towards the profession of Agrology and providing leadership that has benefitted farmers and the agriculture industry.
1945 John (Jack) D. Mollard, BE(CI)'45, MSc(PUR), PhD'52 (COR), LLD'95 (REG)of Regina, SK was awarded the 1999 Julian C. Smith Medal (for achievement in the development of Canada) from the Engineering Institute of Canada.
1946 Robert W. Lodge, BSA'46, of Victoria, BC, worked internationally in Pakistan, Africa, China and retired to Victoria in 1996.
1947 Marguerite G. Ford (Stewart), BA'47 of Vancouver, BC was awarded the Order of British Columbia, 1997 and the Freedom of the City of Vancouver in 1998.
1948 Clark H. Lewis, Agric Dip'48 of Wawota, SK was awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal by the Saskatchewan Honours Advisory Council for his leadership in agriculture and in the creation of the Saskatchewan Association of Agricultural Societies and Exhibitions.
1952 Dr. Arthur G. McBeath, BEd'52 of Regina, SK was awarded the 1998 McDowell Foundation Award, sponsored by the Dr. Stirling McDowell Foundation for Research by the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation.
1954 David W. Shury, LLB'54 of Battleford, SK was awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal by the Saskatchewan Honours Advisory Council for his longtime volunteerism in sports and in activities for paraplegics.
1955 Charles R. MacFadyen, BE'55, of Ocean Hills, CA, has retired after 23 years with AGRA, Inc. and now lives in California.

1960 Alice E. Reynolds (Cove), BSN'60 of Cambridge, ON was the recipient of the 1998 Cambridge YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Health and Fitness.
1961 Glen R. Ellingson, BA'61, BEd'65, MEduc (ALT) of Srathmore, AB retired from teaching in June 1998 and has established a Saskatoon Berry orchard called Bubble Berry Orchards Ltd. in Srathmore.
1962 Charles James (Jim) W. Biss, BE(CI)'62, BAC'64, LLB'67 a Saskatoon lawyer and dedicated volunteer was named CFQC TV's Citizen of the Year for 1998.
Sharon A. Butala, (LeBlanc/Hoy) BEd'62, BA'63 of Eastend, SK, received the 1998 Marian Engel Award given to a woman writer in mid-career, for her body of work. Sharon has published six novels, two short story collections and two works of non-fiction. Her last novel was The Garden of Eden.
Kenneth (Ken) J. Fyke, BSP'62, MHSA'71 (ALT), former President & CEO of the Capital Health Region, Victoria, BC and former Deputy Minister of Health in the provinces of Saskatchewan and British Columbia, has been appointed by Canada's Health Ministers to the position of Chair, Board of Directors of the Canadian Blood Services, (CBS) a new national agency responsible for providing Canadians with safe blood and blood products.
Michael B. Phillips, QC, BA'62, LLB'64 of New York, NY was appointed Consul General in New York as of January 1999 with concurrent accreditation as Commissioner for Canada in Bermuda.
1963 John N. Grantham, BCOMM'63, of Ottawa, ON, has been appointed by the Government of Canada, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as Consul and Trade Commissioner in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Mary Pat Skene, BSN'63 of Saskatoon was appointed President of the Catholic Health Corp of Saskatchewan (CHCS). The CHCS owns hospitals in La Loche, Ile-a-la Crosse, Estevan, Melville and Radville.
1964 Dr. James D. Pulfer, BA'64, MSc'68, PhD'75(McG), of Earlsdon, Coventry, UK was appointed a research scientist at the University of Warwick in the Department Biological Sciences in 1998.

The award recognizes a professional engineer who combines a solid and continuing professional career with outstanding service to the community.

1971 Leslie (Les) T. Bohrson, BSA'71 received the 1998 Distinguished Agrologist Award from the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists and was listed on the new College of Agriculture's Wall of Honor. Les is Senior Agrologist for Sask Water's Irrigation and Agricultural Services in Swift Current, SK.

John B. Robert (Bob) Zentner, BSA'72, MSc'75 of Swift Current, SK received the 1998 Westco prestigious Agronomy Merit Award for his significant contributions to the development of more sustainable farming systems in the Prairie regions. Bob is an agricultural economist with Agriculture Canada at the Swift Current Research Station.

C. Suzanne Soble, BSA'84, PGD'86, BSP'90 moved to Thompson, MB where she is practicing retail pharmacy. Her husband is a flight nurse based in Thompson.
1985 Ellen M. Behm (Mullins), BE(EL)'85 of Buffalo Grove, IL was recently promoted to associate partner in Andersen Consulting, specializing in component and object application design and development. She joined the company in 1985 and was promoted to manager in 1991.

Lauralee A. Irwin (Hlady), BSP'85 of Fairbanks, AK. Lauralee and Bob (Robert S. Irwin, BA'85, MA'88) and family moved to Fairbanks in September. Lauralee is enjoying time at home with the children after 13 years of experience in hospital pharmacy and plans to return to the work force. Bob is a professor of history and northern studies at the U. of Alaska.

Patricia P. Leguen, BEd'85 of Saskatoon won third prize at the International Snow Sculpting Competition held in January '99 in Harbin, China. The competition draws the best of the world's professional snow sculptors.
