Although more people then usual die during a heat wave, if there is a 1C temperature increase all year round this is offset by a decrease in winter mortality. Overall a 1C increase would lead to a reduction of about 7000 deaths a year in the UK.

CMGSS Committees

Social Committee
Will organize events for graduate students both for the purpose of socializing and for fundraising money for the CMGSS as well as local charities.

Seminar Series Committee
Will coordinate a speaker series on topics important to graduate students such as grand writing, how to find employment (research and non-research), research patents, research ethics.

Awards Committee
Will be responsible for recognizing distinguished graduate students and faculty in the College of Medicine.
