Welcome to the Pre-Health Professions Club Website! The website has been designed to provide information to school divisions, parents, regional health authorities, health care professionals, post-secondary institutions, First Nations communities.
The Pre-Health Professions (PHP) Club is an established collaboration between the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) Colleges of: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition. The project seeks to build on existing partnerships that the University of Saskatchewan has established with University of Regina (U of R), First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv), Saskatchewan Health Regions, Saskatchewan school divisions, Métis locals, First Nations tribal councils and their communities. Pre-Health Professions Club sessions focus around a career development sequence that provides secondary students a career pathway to health. The number of sessions hosted, content and design of each session are guided by the needs of students and the community. Each of the PHP Club sessions seeks to utilize resources from health and education sectors within each community where the sessions are hosted. As a result, sessions hosted have an identity that reflects the community. The PHP Club hosts two streams; general and cultural perspectives to accommodate student needs.
The Pre-Health Professions Club is committed to supporting the transition of high school students into health care professions. The PHP Club supports initiatives to address the needs of Aboriginal, rural, and under-served areas.
Since the inception of the Pre-Health Professions Club, this U of S partnership has engaged over 1,500 Saskatchewan high school students. Club activities promote science through the exploration of career pathways to health care professions in northern and southern Saskatchewan regions.
