The Pre-Health Professions Club is a club that engages secondary level students in a career development continuum to explore health care professions in medicine, nursing, pharmacy and nutrition. It is a partnership that involves a community of post-secondary institutions working together with provincial school divisions, health regions, Aboriginal organizations, communities, and independent practicing professionals to provide career development experiences for secondary level students.
We believe that the Pre-Health Professions High School Club is an important opportunity to support secondary level students who have expressed an interest in pursuing medicine, nursing pharmacy or nutrition. Research shows that seeing practitioners in action and having positive professional role models are important for students when making career decisions. Thus, the mentoring experience, as part of the Club activities, is particularly valuable. We thank you for considering serving as a mentor, and look forward to working with you on this important initiative.
Please contact us if you require further information or clarification.
If you have not already done so, confirm your participation as a mentor by completing the intent to mentor form located in the mentorship package. Your contact information is requested for the placement coordinator to correspond with you and the high school student. Indicate the contact information needed for the student to correspond with you on mentorship details.
If you are aware of colleagues who may be interested in mentoring a student from this program, please ask them to contact the participating health region coordinator for Regina Qu'Appelle and Sun Country Health Regions or Pre-Health Professions Coordinator.
