Mentorship Information

The goals of the club are to:

  • To provide students with an opportunity to observe the work of a physician/nurse/pharmacist in a practice setting
  • To become familiar with the work environment and interactions of a physician/nurse/pharmacistt/dietitian

The "PHP Club" consists of three or four sessions, including planned time for the students with mentors in medicine, nursing, or pharmacy, based on students particular interests. In addition to, or instead of the four general sessions, Aboriginal high school students have the opportunity to access two sessions to explore these careers from an Aboriginal perspective.

Students who have demonstrated a commitment to the program will have an opportunity to select and experience a two-four hour or one 8 hour mentorship experience with a professional in the health profession that they have explored through the club. The goal of the mentorship experiences is to provide students with an opportunity to observe the work of a physician/nurse/pharmacist in a practice setting and to become familiar with the work environment and interactions of a physician/nurse/pharmacist/dietitian.
