Health Promotion Link
Join our electronic discussion group on health promotion!
This listserv discussion group has been established to mediate communication amongst practitioners of health promotion in Saskatchewan and beyond. We hope that this electronic venue will enable practitioners to communicate knowledge, insights, and creative solutions with others who have questions, concerns and comments. We also hope that people will share information and resources that they have found useful.

To send a message to HPLINK, you will be sending a message to all the people who have subscribed to the listserv. Send your message to
To reply to a message sent by another listserv member, click on 'Reply to Sender' (or type in reply, depending on your email system), add the email address for hplink (firstname.lastname@example.org) to the 'Cc' section (that is, send a copy to) and type your response to the message. Another option is to use the 'Reply to All' and delete any email addresses that you do not want the message to go to. Just make sure you leave the hplink address. The final option is to send a new message to hplink, repeating the subject line from the email to which you wish to reply or comment. You can leave the original message, or delete it to save space. If you want to reply individually to that person, make a note of their email address, and send a separate message to that address only.
When you have subscribed, post a message to the listserv telling us about yourself, your work, your areas of interest and your experiences.
Archives of past messages can be accessed here. Go to the bottom of the page and you will see each year listed
Search the archives of past messages. Click here, go to the bottom of the page, and click on "Search." Type in your word or phrase.
Try to keep messages short, about 1 - 2 screen lengths. If you have a long item or comment to post, identify this at the top of the message. Some systems do not have large message capability, and some systems charge by the amount of space used.
Try to keep messages to one topic per message. This makes it easier for people to respond. Use a short descriptive header to identify the subject of your message. When you reply to a message, please make sure that the subject heading is the same as the one you are replying to. When you make your comment, delete the whole original message. You can put a short summary statement about the original message if you like. Again, this saves computer space and charges for those systems that do not have large storage space. Visit a web site such as www.albion.com/netiquette. This site has a good outline of on-line etiquette. The underlying consideration that we need to keep in mind is that we are talking to people, and when sending out a message, we should first review it with the question "would I say this to someone in person?"
If you are going to be away from your computer for an extended period of time, e.g. a vacation, we suggest that you unsubscribe from the list for that period. We do not recommend the use of "vacation messages" on email when you belong to a list serv, as they can create significant problems, by sending repeated messages to all subscribers. If you do use a vacation message, make sure your software DOES NOT quote the original incoming message in the vacation response. The vacation program should be set to "reply-to-sender", NOT "reply-to-all."
Please do not use attachments in your messages. Many people will not be able to open them, and attachments can carry viruses. Please type your message directly in the body of your email or "cut and paste" the material from the attachment into the body of your message instead.

UNSUBSCRIBE HPLINK-L your email address

Sending a message to HPLINK

Type the title or topic of your message in the "subject" line of the email, and the message you want to send in the body of the email. When you send the message, it will go to all subscribers.
