Dr. Zubia Mumtaz, MBBS, MPH, PhD

Dr. Zubia Mumtaz has a MBBS from Aga Khan University, Pakistan, a MPH from Harvard University and a PhD in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.

Her research interests are socio-cultural and gender determinants of women’s health, associated health policy and health care delivery systems in the global health context. Her particular expertise is combining the principles of quantitative and qualitative research methods to understand in depth, how social, political and economic forces, both at the macro and micro-level, interact to determine women’s reproductive health in developing countries of South Asia.

Dr. Mumtaz has over a decade of public health experience in Pakistan and Canada, mostly in the academia, but also directly related to service delivery. She teaches courses in epidemiology, qualitative research methods and health systems analysis, both at the graduate level and in short in-service courses aimed at strengthening research and programmatic capacities of service delivery providers.
