As Head of the MS Clinic, Dr. Hader is able to work with the patient population to assemble epidemiological information which helps us understand the genetic factors involved in multiple sclerosis. These studies are part of a Canada-wide effort which is helping to determine if some people are particularly pre-disposed to developing MS. Clinical trials of new drugs are also carried out in controled experiments involving participants recruited from the local population. These studies are the final step in determining whether promising therapeutic strategies can provide real benefits for the victims of MS.
