The Canadian Journal of History/Annales canadiennes d’histoire invites the submission of manuscripts in English or French in all periods of history and in all fields other than Canadian. Articles are to be based on original research with primary sources. They will normally be assessed (double-blind) by external readers. It is the Journal’s policy not to keep a large backlog of articles.
Please submit your article electronically, double-spaced, in one font, using footnotes rather than endnotes; suggested length 40 pages maximum, notes included. Please follow formatting instructions for text and footnotes: instructions are online in the CJH/ACH Style Guide.
Upon acceptance of an article for publication, you will send the final version as an e-mail attachment in Word or WordPerfect.
We also require a 300-word abstract of your article highlighting its main points, conclusions, and significance. We publish abstracts in both French and English. If you can supply an abstract only in one language, we will arrange translation.
