University of Saskatchewan

. . . a Canadian journal of general historical studies

The Canadian Journal of History/Annales canadiennes d'histoire publishes three issues per year: Spring/Summer, Autumn and Winter. It is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal of international stature published at the University of Saskatchewan since 1966. The Journal publishes high-quality articles, historiographical articles, review articles, and reviews concerning all countries and periods of history.

Authors and reviewers are advised to read our Bulletin for Authors and Reviewers.

A Journal of History

The Canadian Journal of History publishes general history -- articles and reviews by scholarly specialists in their fields of research, intended for the specialist historian of any field.

Leading scholars have bemoaned the fragmentation of academic understanding today. Historians can barely keep up with the fast pace of new research in their own specialized fields -- how are they to keep up in others? As a remedy, The Canadian Journal of History aims to make available current and innovative historical research in all fields of history--geographic, temporal and topical.

The Canadian Journal of History should not replace your subscriptions to your specialty academic journals -- but should it not supplement those subscriptions, and provide a window on a larger world?

A Canadian Journal

The Canadian Journal of History presents, particularly, the work of the historical profession in Canada. Approximately three-fourths of our articles and reviews are by scholars who research and teach at universities in Canada, and we make a point of reviewing publications by Canadian scholars. The Canadian Journal of History is a bilingual publication which encourages submissions in either of Canada's two official languages.

An International Journal

The Canadian Journal of History is widely circulated abroad. It is subscribed to by almost all major university libraries in the United States and a large number in Britain, Europe, and elsewhere. We rely extensively on the international community of scholars for our referees. We welcome contributions by scholars from all countries; one need not be a Canadian citizen or resident to publish an article or review with us.

A Contemporary Journal

The Canadian Journal of History undertakes to publish and review the most current scholarship as quickly as possible. No other journal can bring you the same range of material with the same speed.
