Instructions to Reviewers

Please send the completed review to:
cjh@usask.ca

Word or WordPerfect formats are acceptable.

Begin your review with the title, author, publisher, date, number of pages, and price, as in the following example:

Tibet: A History, by Sam Van Schaik. New Haven, Connecticut, Yale University Press, 2011. xxiv, 324 pp. $35.00 US (cloth).

Your review should be single-spaced and typed with wide margins. End your review by giving your name at the right margin and, below it, your institution (in italics). Please keep within the assigned wordage. If you require fewer words than assigned, you may write a shorter review. If you feel the book warrants more words than assigned, or should be reviewed with another, consult the editor.

The review should be interesting, informative, and fair, and should offer something to the non-specialist as well as the specialist.

Quotations should be minimal and include page numbers in parentheses. References to other works, if any, should be in the text. Footnotes are not accepted in reviews, only in review essays. For all other questions regarding format or style, refer to the "Instructions for Contributors."

The editor reserves the right to make minor changes and corrections, to cut where the assigned length is exceeded, and to exercise discretion where unnecessary or inappropriate editorialization is concerned. The editor likewise reserves the right to refuse to publish a review that is submitted after the assigned deadline has passed. If you are in doubt as to your ability to meet the assigned deadline, please contact the Journal in advance.

To save time and money, the Journal proofreads all reviews in the editorial office. It does not provide authors of reviews with proofs, so please ensure that your typescript is fully corrected.

All reviewers should be aware that their work may appear for sale online by Amazon.com. The Journal is not responsible for this development, nor does the Journal endorse or profit from it. For details, consult the "Bulletin for Authors and Reviewers."
