Q: Who is eligible for the 4% market adjustment on May 1, 2009?
A. ASPA employees in permanent, term, and casual jobs on May 1, 2009 who are below the maximum of the May 1, 2009 salary range for their family / phase are eligible for the market adjustment.
Employees who are below the salary range will be brought to the minimum of the range for their family and phase before the market adjustment.
Employees on paid or unpaid leaves of absence will also receive the adjustment to their salary.
Q. When would an employee receive a partial market adjustment?
A. If the employee’s salary is close to the top of the May 1, 2009 salary range for their family and phase prior to any adjustments, a partial market adjustment (less than 4%) bringing them to the top of the salary range will be applied.
Q. What if my current salary is above the maximum for my salary range?
A. Any employee who is currently being paid above the maximum for their new salary range will not receive market adjustments until their salary range increases to a level where their salary is within the range again. Salary ranges increase by 4% in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Employees being paid above the maximum of their salary range are still eligible for lump sum bonus merit awards.
Q. What is the purpose of the increment?
A. The purpose of the increment is to recognize growth in proficiency from experience and a satisfactory level of performance to employees over a given time span, usually one year.
Q. Who is eligible for the 2% regular increment on May 1, 2009?
A. All employees who are currently below the target point of the salary range for their phase will receive the 2% increment up to the target point. The increment is contingent on satisfactory performance.
Q. If I was hired to the ASPA position after May 1, 2008, how will my increment be applied?
A. Employees who were hired before August 1, 2008 will receive their full increment of 2%. Employees who were hired after July 31, 2008 will receive a pro-rated increment (less than 2%).
Q. What happens if an employee is less than 2% below the target point for their salary range?
A. If an employee is less than 2% below the target point, they will receive the portion of the increment that brings their salary to the target point. .

Q. How is the increment determined for employees in multiple ASPA jobs on May 1, 2009?
A. The employee receives an increment to each of the multiple jobs based upon the continuous service and leave adjustment across all multiple jobs up to 2%.
Example:
An employee is in a .5 FTE ASPA job on May 1, 2008 and then starts another ASPA .5 FTE job on July 1, 2008. The employee had full continuous service in 2008-09 and will be eligible for a full 2% increment on both .5 FTE jobs.
